It’s been almost a year since Deltarune Chapter 2 released, so fans are no doubt eager for any news about the next chapter. Unfortunately, if you’re hoping for a surprise release in the next few months, creator Toby Fox has bad news for you.

Earlier today, Fox admitted that no new chapters of Deltarune will be released this year, meaning we won’t see anything until 2023 at the earliest. On the plus side, Fox also teased something special for Deltarune Chapter 2 and Undertale’s anniversary.

As a reminder, Deltarune Chapter 2 launched last year on September 17th, and Undertale’s anniversary is September 15th. Fox didn’t specify when he’ll share the surprise, but it’s sure to happen next week, around those two dates.

So, what is Fox teasing? The first assumption is the release date of the next set of chapters. Unlike the first two, which were released three years apart, Fox said he wanted to release Chapters 3, 4, and 5 at the same time. However, they won’t be as free as the first two, but pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Given the gap between Chapters 1 and 2, we may not see new chapters until 2024, or maybe even later, as Fox releases three chapters at a time instead of one. back in may However, Fox assured fans that development is going well as he attracts more people to help him.

If it’s not a release date, then maybe it’s a confirmation of the Xbox port? Currently, Deltarune is only available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Since Undertale is finally coming to Xbox (albeit a few years later than other platforms), it’s safe to assume Deltarune will follow suit.

Since Fox said the announcement was for Deltarune and Undertale’s anniversary, it could be for something more general, like another concert, similar to the 5th Anniversary of Under the Legend.
