One person was killed and ten injured in a boat crash near Key West, Florida.

Three passengers were seriously injured when the boat capsized after hitting a fairway marker near Boca Chita Reef in Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

There were 14 people on board when the boat capsized just before 7 p.m. Sunday, Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue said in a news release. Associated PressSeven passengers suffered minor injuries, fire officials said.

The Archdiocese of Miami told CBS 4 Lucy Fernandez, 17, died of her injuries. She was a pupil of Our Lady of Lourdes.

More than 10 fire and rescue units and the Miami-Dade Police Marine Patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, The Associated Press noted.

The injured were pulled from the water by Miami-Dade fire and police forces before other passengers, Florida Keys News report. The same report said three children were on board.

The seriously injured were airlifted from nearby Elliottkey Island to a hospital in Miami, authorities added.

Boca Chica is an island in the northern Florida Keys, located in Biscayne National Park off the coast of Miami-Dade County.
