Storyboards related to the cancelled Tomb Raider 2 movie have surfaced online.
The sketches, shared on Twitter by artist Jack Lunt Davis, appear to indicate the Croft estate is being infiltrated by a masked mob. These guys must have chosen a particularly dark and stormy night to raid Laura’s place. “A bolt of lightning illuminates the garden”, read the description on one of the panels. They then appear to have tampered with the security system and entered the building.
We’re not told who these thugs are, but it’s safe to say they’re part of Trinity, the world-threatening underground that caused Lara all-around pain in the first movie and the reboot trilogy.

The artist followed up with more images showing Laura fending off her attackers. The scene is reminiscent of the original Tomb Raider movie, when Laura, played by Angelina Jolie, defends her home from a mob while also doing some spectacular flips using her homemade bungee jumping gear. When asked if there were more storyboards, Davis replied, “Yes…I have more!” But added, “I can only share a little right now.”

The Tomb Raider movie sequel, starring Alicia Vikander, was originally scheduled to hit theaters in March 2021. The film, unofficially titled Tomb Raider: Obsidian, will be directed by Misha Green after former director Ben Wheatley dropped out of the project. Sadly, the sequel is now completely scrapped after it was not approved by MGM by the May deadline. So it’s back on the drawing board in the case of another Tomb Raider movie, as the studio is reportedly planning a “full reboot” and will be in a bidding war to bring Lara Croft brought to the big screen.
