Google has started sending out invites for its fall hardware event, scheduled for Thursday, October 6 at 10AM ET. The event will unveil the upcoming Pixel 7 phones, as well as the Pixel Watch — both devices the company showed off at its I/O event earlier this year and announced they would be available in the fall.

Google’s announcements come a day before Apple’s Far Out event, where it will showcase the iPhone 14 — you can follow all the news about those announcements here. Since Google’s last event, the alleged leaks have revealed more about the devices, with both watches and phones appearing to be getting into people’s hands.

The leak doesn’t reveal much about the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro that we don’t yet know, such as it has an aluminum camera bar and two cutouts on the rear of the Pro model. Someone managed to unbox and boot the phone, but given that Android 13 has already started rolling out to other devices, that’s nothing new. Earlier this year, though, a Redditor got his hands on a prototype Pixel Watch (allegedly, it was left at a restaurant). While it won’t start, their photos do give us a better idea of the size of the watch, and how it will actually look on our wrist.

The Pixel 7 seems like a pretty simple continuation of the previous generation of phones, but as “the first smartwatch made by Google, inside and out,” there’s some pressure on the Watch because its product page to Google’s online store. Google’s competitors (namely Samsung and Apple) have been making wearables for years, so the company’s entry has to be competitive, at least somewhat from the start. Details about it are scant so far — we don’t even know what chip it will use — but we should get a clearer picture on October 6.
