HBO has released a new trailer for “House of the Dragon” episode 4, and it sets the stage for a very dramatic episode to come. The trailer and this story contain spoilers for House of the Dragon.

Rhaenyra opens the video and cryptically says, “My blood comes from the prince I promised, and his will is A Song of Ice and Fire.” We then learn that episode 4 seems to be going deeper into the succession to the Iron Throne Question, Daemon (Matt Smith), Rhaenyra (Millie Alcock), and Little Prince Aegon have all been mentioned as potential heirs.

Afterwards, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) approaches King Viserys (Paddy Considine) with some “disturbing news.” Apparently Rhaenia was involved in some capacity, as she declared it was a “despicable accusation,” whatever it was. The video shows the two possibly being in tension, which could play a role in whatever drama Otto is referring to.

King Viserys also didn’t like the rumors, saying, “Who’s to blame for this gossip? I’ll keep their eyes on them.” The video goes on to show Daemon returning to King’s Landing in a cape. Obviously, there’s something big going on in the storyline, but we’ll have to wait until this Sunday, September 11 to find out more.

Episode 3 featured a multi-year time jump, and there could be even bigger jumps in future episodes. The actresses currently playing Rhaenyla and Allison will be replaced by older versions played by Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, respectively.

The Dragon House is now competing with another high-profile fantasy series, Amazon Studios’ The Lord of the Rings: Ring of Power, which drew 25 million viewers in its first episode.
