Firewall Ultra Announced for PlayStation VR2
Firewall is coming to PlayStation VR2 with Firewall Ultra.
The sequel to Firewall: Zero Hour, the upcoming VR-based FPS is getting a few upgrades coming to the PS5 – taking advantage of the all-new PSVR2 feature to improve the formula.
“Firewall Ultra features new PlayStation VR 2 Sense technology features, such as eye tracking, which allow you to visually swap weapons and bring up HUD indicators via the camera built into the PSVR 2 headset,” said Firewall Community Manager Frank Marm.
Sony’s PlayStation VR2 is due for release in early 2023, and it features a bunch of notable upgrades over the original PSVR.
In addition to eye tracking, the PSVR2 has a 2000×2040 OLED display that can be used for each Eyes, refresh rate up to 120hz and 110 degree field of view.
That’s on top of a pretty cool new VR controller that includes haptic feedback.
Speaking of Firewall Ultra, developer First Contact Entertainment appears to be planning to take full advantage of the headset’s new and improved fidelity.
“Because PSVR 2 offers a higher level of visual fidelity with 4K HDR, we’ve completely reworked all character models,” says Marm. “The map has also been completely overhauled, with new areas and new textures.”
Set 5 years after the original game, there’s a whole bunch of new locations and contractors…not to mention weapons and gear that promise “deeper” levels of customization.

Other improvements include new dedicated servers – a long-standing request from the firewall community. Every match will now also be best-of-three, and Firewall Ultra will even add a new PVE experience.
“We plan future content after launch, such as new contractors, maps and weapons,” Marm said.
