Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new update today, named after the Netflix animation Edgerunners, which will be released later this month.
The news was announced as part of today night city wire stream (opens in new tab). As the title suggests, it will be filled with Edgerunners-themed Easter eggs. You’ll be able to get the jacket worn by the show’s protagonist, David Martinez, as well as a new weapon from the series. A new mission will also contain many references to the show.
The update also adds a wardrobe feature. This is basically a transmog feature that lets you customize the look of an outfit in all slots, letting you rock whatever look you like while wearing the gear that fits its stats. The game’s ripperdocs now also reshape your face and body at any time throughout the game.
You will now find that Roach Race is a playable arcade game. It will also be available for free as a standalone game on iOS and Android.
The developers have confirmed that Edgerunners will be the last major update for older generation consoles. However, more patches are in the works for the next-gen version, including a complete overhaul of police systems and vehicle combat. Other updates will bring changes to melee combat and skill trees.
We also got a short trailer for Phantom Liberty, the first major expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, due out in 2023.
The stream replays the Edgerunners animated trailer we saw last week, but this time we get a preview of the show’s English dub. We’ve also confirmed that the animation will be a canon in the game universe, so you’ll see familiar characters appear in both. Edgerunners is coming to Netflix on September 13th.
