Just days before the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, a Ford Escort driven by Princess Diana for nearly three years sold for £650,000 (about $764,000) at a UK auction on Saturday. Diana drove the car from 1985 to 1988.
Last week, the Silverstone auction Announce The historic black Ford Escort RS Turbo, described as being in “first-class competition standard condition”, is up for auction.

The auction house described the car as being in “unusual condition” with just 24,961 miles on it.
Buyers will also have to pay a 12.5 percent buyer’s premium on top of the exorbitant selling price, according to the Associated Press. The Associated Press said the buyers were from the United Kingdom, but their names were not disclosed.
Bidders from all over the world are vying for the car, which is the last Ford Escort owned by the late princess.
“We note with interest that while Diana’s later choice of luxury cars may have been more expensive when new, the Ford Escort RS Turbo far outperformed them at auction, in some cases selling for three times as much as a comparable model. times,” Silverstone said.
