Analysis: Valve needs feedback on Steam Deck sequel
It’s great to hear Valve announce that it intends to make a future sequel to Steam Deck, and while that’s something the company has talked about before, it’s clear that this time, things are expressed in a firmer way, with the existence of multiple generations of handhelds.
In this booklet, Valve also asked gamers what they would like to see in future incarnations of the Steam Deck, and we’ve gotten some hints about what changes might be implemented. These range from the given, like making Steam Deck 2 more powerful, and innovating around the portability of the device, to the less obvious, like the VR-related stuff that Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has mentioned in the past.
The fact that Valve has some serious long-term plans for future releases of the Steam Deck should come as no surprise, given the handheld’s popularity, in terms of lengthy (and still very ongoing) queues for preorders, and the usual on-device access ‘s praise. Maybe it won’t be long before we start to see what features or hardware Valve is considering for Steam Deck 2.
