WICHITA, Kansas (KWCH) – With sports betting legalized in Kansas, questions about when and where ensue.Last week, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced Legalized staking will begin with a soft launch at noon next Thursday, September 1, It will then fully open on September 8.
On Friday, the Kansas Lottery rolled out approved sports betting platforms starting Sept. 1.
The Kansas Lottery said each state-owned casino in the state “will be able to offer in-person sports betting and mobile sports betting on up to three platforms or apps.”
These partnerships include:
- Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, Kansas will offer live sports betting and mobile sports betting through Barstool Sports.
- Mulvane’s Kansas Star Casino will offer in-person sports betting and mobile sports betting through FanDuel.
- Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City will offer mobile sports betting through DraftKings.
“Live sportsbooks at the location will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, players are still welcome to visit the casino and place their bets through the mobile app,” explained the Kansas Lottery.
- Kansas Crossing Casino in Pittsburgh will offer mobile sports betting through BetMGM, Caesars and PointsBet.
The Kansas Lottery said, “Live sports betting at this location will be announced at a later date.”
Tribal casinos are also working on a sports betting contract with Kansas. The Kansas Lottery explained last week that the casinos would be authorized as soon as they were ready.
Following the Aug. 18 announcement of the start date for legalizing sports betting in Kansas, Kelly touted the state’s expected economic benefits.
“Legalizing sports betting is a common-sense solution that would keep Kansas money in Kansas and drive business to sporting events, casinos, restaurants and other entertainment venues,” Kelly said. “I would like to thank all our partners for working with us to get this done in time for football season.”
