Marvel Avengers
The acquisition of Eidos and Crystal Dynamics by game publisher vacuum Embracer Group has been finalized. Right now, their game catalog sales are some of the most significant I’ve ever seen, and they’re getting over 90% off almost every IP and existing games they get with this deal. Given that most of these games aren’t full price already, that means you can get some truly incredible games for just a few dollars.

The sale is taking place inside the Square Enix store, which is a bit odd considering the move to Embracer, but I’m pretty sure what’s going on here is that they’re trying to clear out all the physical inventory they’ve left of these old games with a steep, steep Discount, then start with a clean slate.

Everything I listed above I think is a pretty good game (yes, even the Avengers, although both PS Plus and Game Pass are now available). So you can easily play 200+ hours of gameplay here for about $20 in total? You don’t see this very often, especially with such a large franchise.
As for what’s coming next, there’s been a lot of rumours about what Embracer plans to do with these studios and IPs. Here’s what we know:
- Crystal Dynamics continues to create content for The Avengers through PS Plus and Game Pass, giving the game new life.
- Crystal Dynamics is developing a new Tomb Raider game using Unreal Engine 5.
- Crystal Dynamics is working to help Microsoft achieve Perfect Dark.
- Rumor has it that Eidos thinks they can do cyberpunk “right” with a new Deus Ex game.
- There are rumors that Embracer may try to negotiate an extension of the Marvel contract with Marvel to make more games besides Guardians and Avengers.
But we’ll see what actually happens. Right now, the only really concrete project of all of these is the new Tomb Raider game, which is probably a few years from now.
