MANCHESTER, England (AP) — England quickly cleared South Africa’s tail with a new ball to confirm a resounding one-set victory in Saturday’s second Test and send the series to the tiebreaker.

England won by one innings and 85 in three days as James Anderson and Ollie Robinson combined to take the last five South African wickets in 5.1 overs with new balls.

South Africa were knocked out on 179 in the second innings at Old Trafford and were nowhere close to getting England to bat again.

Robinson finished 4-43 in his comeback Test and Anderson finished 3-30 with six wickets in his home game.

England have been 1-1 in the series since they knocked out the visitors 151 in their first innings on Thursday and then declared 415-9 on Friday.

South Africa started the third day 23-0 and although Keegan Petersen (42) and Rassie van der Dussen (41) put off England’s victory with 87 points in the fourth wicket, the result was never really worthwhile Suspect.

Captain Ben Stokes bravely took both of them with an old ball after tea, clearing the way for Anderson and Robinson to finish.

England were finally in clinical form as the Proteas went all out from 141-3 to 179.

The series is 1-1 and the tiebreaker begins at London’s Oval on September 8.
