Two iconic American rappers – Eminem and Snoop Dogg – will perform their joint single “From D 2 the LBC” live this Sunday at the MTV-sponsored Video Music Awards (VMAs). Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) holders will be allowed to watch the event live in the “Otherside” Metaverse.
The song includes the artist’s personal non-fungible tokens, which they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on.
The song of the two starts live
Famous musicians are not always a great tandem. Over the past few years, Snoop Dogg has said that Eminem shouldn’t be considered one of the 10 greatest rappers of all time. The latter fights back, using his song “Zeus” as a weapon:
“The last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me. Man, dog, you’re like a goddamn god to me…no, not really (lol), I put the “dog” down.
Soon after, Snoop Dogg revealed that he apologized to Eminem, saying their industry is too competitive, which is why some rappers sometimes have too much tension.
When they released a joint song called “From the D 2 The LBC” in June, the musicians seemed to have completely dropped the axe. In their semi-animated video, they showcase NFTs from the famous BAYC collection.
In one of his most recent tweets, Snoop Dogg informed that he and Eminem will be performing the single live during the MTV-sponsored Video Music Awards (VMAs) on August 28.

This year, organizers added a new category called “Best Metaverse Performance,” indicating that virtual reality projects will play a major role in future annual awards.
The VMA has become one of the top events for music lovers. In 2011, nearly 12.4 million viewers watched its live broadcast, and over the next few years, interest gradually declined. In addition to Eminem and Snoop Dogg, Sunday’s other performers included Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and 21 Pilots.
Eminem’s Crypto History
Speaking of Eminem, it’s worth mentioning that the rap legend is no newcomer to the crypto world. In April 2021, the 15-time Grammy winner teamed up with Nifty Gateway for a series of NFTs called Shady Con.
Marshall Bruce Mathers III (his real name) says his love for similar series goes back to his childhood, when he was a fan of comic books, baseball cards and toys:
“As an adult, I haven’t changed much. I have tried to recreate some of my collections from that time in my life, and I know I’m not alone. I want to bring the same feeling to this drop, ‘Oh, Man, I have to buy just that, or even the whole set! “It’s been a lot of fun coming up with ideas from my own passion for collecting.”
Earlier this year, Eminem joined the BAYC club and purchased Bored Ape #9055 for 123,45 ETH. The collectible represents a monkey in a gold jacket and hat. At the time of the transaction, the purchase amount was over $460,000.
