  • Elon Musk has twins with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis in late 2021.
  • Zilis told colleagues that the twins were conceived through in vitro fertilization, Reuters reports Friday.
  • She also insisted she was not in a relationship with Musk, Reuters said.

The Neuralink executive, who has twins with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, told colleagues that the couple conceived through in vitro fertilization and were not in a relationship, Reuters reports on Friday.

Insider’s Julia Black reported in July, citing a confidential court filing, that the billionaire quietly welcomed twins in November 2021. The children’s mother, Shivon Zilis, is an executive at Musk’s brain-computer interface company Neuralink.

Since the Insider report, Zilis, 36, has told some of her Neuralink colleagues that she has never been in a relationship with Musk and that the twins were conceived through in vitro fertilization, five people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Reuters was unable to determine the accuracy of the Zilis account. Musk did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

Zilis continues to work under Musk as director of operations and special projects at Neuralink.

According to Reuters, the company’s 62-page employee handbook prohibits “personal relationships” between anyone who holds a more senior position because of a potential conflict of interest.

But Neuralink accepted Zilis’s description of her relationship with Musk as unromantic, allowing her to continue working with him, according to Reuters.

Neurolink did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

Zilis and Musk’s twins were born just weeks before Tesla CEO and musician Claire Boucher gave birth to their second child through surrogacy in December.

The twins are Musk’s second set of twins, having twins and triplets with his ex-wife, Canadian author Justin Wilson.

He also has two children, X Æ A-Xii and Exa Dark Sideræl, with Grimes.

Musk confirmed earlier this month that he, who has nine children and three women, prefers “civilization to end with a bang than whimper and adult diapers.”

The billionaire has previously claimed that falling birth rates combined with the rise of artificial intelligence could lead to “not enough people” in the world.

“Too many people fantasize about an overpopulated Earth, despite the birth rate trending so clearly toward population collapse,” Musk tweeted last month.
