Brighton, England (AP) — Brighton extended their Premier League unbeaten run to a club-record nine games after Pascal Gross’ second-half strike sealed a 1-0 win on Saturday.
Brighton squandered plenty of chances at the Amex, before Gross calmly scored his third goal of the season in the 66th minute. Brighton have won three games in the league and drawn one.
Leeds United were second in a frustrating game when manager Jesse Marsh was shown a yellow card in the second half. The energetic American hit the turf after his team was awarded a free-kick and sarcastically applauded referee Michael Salisbury.
Substitute Luis Sinistra squandered an excellent chance for the visitors by going wide unguarded before the Seagulls won. Diego Llorente narrowly missed the target with a late header as Leeds’ unbeaten start came to an end.
Marsh persevered in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Chelsea, frequently leaving his technical area and at times angrily berating officials.
Trossard opened the visitors’ defence and Gross continued his good start to the new season, calmly entering the bottom left corner.
Then, officials finally lost patience with Marsch, and given his sarcastic applause, the color of the cards might have been different.
