The Sonos Ray is an entry-level soundbar featuring the company’s excellent multi-room music system and an amazingly wide soundstage through the use of proprietary waveguides.
While it doesn’t support Dolby Atmos surround sound or have an HDMI port to connect to your TV (you connect it to your TV using the included optical cable), we were impressed with the sound quality for music and movies . You can pair it with several other Sonos speakers, like the Sonos Ones, to create a surround sound system.

The Zvox AV357 is a great way to upgrade a bad-sounding TV. It’s also stylish, with a woodgrain finish, and the remote is easy to use. If you want to connect more than just a TV – like a phone that plays music via Bluetooth – try one of the other options here, but this is still a great TV speaker.

Best for small spaces
The problem with most soundbars is that they’re pretty big — if you have a small TV or the included stand, they can dangle from above. The MagniFi Mini’s main speaker is only a foot wide, but it’s capable of delivering ultra-wide sound through a clever use of technology. While the V21 with wireless subwoofer is surpassed by others on this list, and may not be the best soundbar under $300, it’s one of the best soundbars under $200. It offers excellent value if you have a limited budget. It has the all-important HDMI connection, Bluetooth and a separate sub-interface. The Vizio offers great sound quality for about half the price of these competitors.
